Sabek.JPG

MADRID 1985

Sabek is a Spanish artist who began and developed a significant part of his career in Madrid. He started by creating street art and intervening in abandoned spaces around the capital, where he gradually honed his style. Later, he expanded his practice to produce graphic works and experiment with various techniques.

His unmistakable style is recognized through the depiction of shapes and colors that evoke the natural world, particularly noble and powerful animals that command a profound sense of respect. His work, therefore, invites contemplation on the relationship between humans and nature.

On monumental walls across the globe (in the U.S., France, Spain, Malaysia, Russia, and New Zealand), Sabek leaves behind the marks of his highly distinctive style. A delicate balance between subtlety and strength is achieved through the interplay of shadows and solid color fields, which, used almost symbolically, coexist seamlessly with the most refined details. His animal representations serve as an allegory for the balance of nature and the energy inherent within it, conveyed through minimalist depictions of plants and human forms. Sabek’s compositions are created without the intention of imbuing the symbols with a defined logic; thus, rather than reflecting reality, his works bring a new one into existence.

His work can be found in galleries in Spain, France, and the United States.
