AR CONTEMPORARY

MADRID 2000
Karmen Ameller is a Madrid-based artist who graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. Her work encompasses multiple formats and disciplines, including ceramics, drawing, and animation. Ameller's artistic practice centers on the exploration of found objects, which she transforms into characters that inhabit an imaginary narrative. This subjective projection unfolds through various media, where each element serves as a vehicle for expression that invites reflection.
Ameller establishes visual and material connections that endow her creatures with a hybrid identity. This approach not only challenges the cultural meanings typically associated with certain representations but also encourages a reevaluation of aesthetic and symbolic conventions.
Characterized by her multidisciplinary approach, the artist integrates both drawing and sculpture, creating a speculative framework that assumes a self-referential quality. This process generates a continuous narrative that unfolds within her works, where each piece engages in dialogue with the others, contributing to a cohesive universe.
Throughout her career, Karmen Ameller has participated in various individual and collective projects, showcasing her work in venues such as Pradiauto and at documenta fifteen with her innovative project “Sinfín Lingual.” Her unique perspective and commitment to experimentation have established her as a significant voice in the contemporary art scene.
